  • Physical basics of hygrothermal room climate simulation
  • Introduction to the WUFI software using various practical examples

Week 2 (Theory training):  

This module is designed to an understanding of the principles and practices of wood construction and insulation.

  • Design and analysis of wood construction elements, including beams, columns, slabs, and walls
  • Use of advanced materials and techniques for the construction of wood components, such as cross-laminated timber, laminated veneer lumber, and glued laminated timber
  • Principles of insulation, including the types of insulation materials, their properties, and their applications in wood construction
  • Use of advanced insulation techniques, such as spray foam insulation, rigid foam insulation, and blown-in insulation

Week 3 (Practical training):

This module is designed to provide an understanding of the principles and practices of flat roofs in wooden construction management with the focus on damage to flat roofs and flat sloping roofs.

  • Design and analysis of flat roofs and flat sloping roofs,
  • Evaluation of physical phenomena related to heat transfer and energy use in buildings, water and water vapor transfer in building structures, daylighting and electric lighting of buildings
  • Sound transmission in building structures and protection against noise,
  • Occurrence and spread of fires in buildings 
  • Principles of damage to flat roofs and flat sloping roofs, including the sources of damage, the health effects of damage, and the methods for preventing and controlling damage to flat roofs and flat sloping roofs in wooden construction
  • Damage remediation, including the use of personal protective equipment, containment, and air filtration

  • Basics of building physics, including the evaluation of physical phenomena related to heat transfer and energy use in buildings, water and water vapor transfer in building structures, daylighting and electric lighting of buildings,
  • Sound transmission in building structures and protection against noise, the occurrence and spread of fires in buildings and the thermal response of cities.
  • Principles of heat, including the principles of thermal conductivity, thermal convection, and thermal radiation, as well as the thermal values of building materials, thermal characteristic values, thermal bridges, non-stationary thermal conductivity within building elements, the mechanism of heat storage, thermal insulation materials and systems by comparison, and passive solar gains through opaque and transparent building elements, heat protection in summer
  • The principles of humidity, including relative humidity, water vapor content of the air, water vapor partial pressure, dew-point temperature, diffusion resistance, liquid line, moisture transport by diffusion, capillary pressure, and air flow will be lectured.
  • Perception and measurement of sound, calculation by sound levels, sound absorption and sound reflectance, definition and calculation of single-leaf building elements, influence of the area-related mass, resistance to deflection, trace adjustment, two- or multiple leaf structural elements, resonance, flanking transmission, resulting sound insulation, impact sound pressure level, impact sound transmission, and impact sound insulation.

  • Principles of stone construction, including the evaluation of the performance of the fabric of a building, the way it gains and loses heat, and requires natural or artificial light inside
  • Stone construction components, including the evaluation of window frames, sashes, and glazing
  • Stone construction installation, including the design and installation of stone construction for buildings
  • Stone construction maintenance, including the inspection, cleaning, and repair of stone construction
